An upper KS2 maths word problems inspired by the legend of Saint George and the Dragon

Children have to use their place value and systematic problem solving skills to work out who is to be fed to the dragon today!

Note for teachers: once the children have worked out the numbers, tell them that the person with the largest number will be fed to the dragon. Answers are included.
