'The Highwayman' activities

A set of activities looking at description in 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes.

Children are challenged to create a 'wanted' poster of the highwayman based on his description in the poem. Then they are asked to think about how colour is used in the poem and to record examples of reference to colour in the description. The final task asks children to look at the types of description that are used in the poem i.e. similes, metaphors and adjectives.

A great comprehension resource that encourages children to really engage with description within this classic poem.
