A set of instructions for teachers to make crystalline Christmas snowflakes in the classroom! Children bend pipe cleaners into snowflake shapes, then suspend them over a solution of sugar or salt. Crystals will grow on the pipe cleaners to form a glittering snowflake.
A scientific explanation of the experiment is included, as well as ideas for creating colourful snowflakes. Suitable for KS2.
