Archimedes's mobiles
A superb missing number and problem solving activity based on Archimedes's mobiles. After looking at the example, children work out which numbers they could use to fill in the missing weights. The mobiles increase in complexity, with the final mobile providing a full-page challenge!
Great for improving problem solving skills in Y5 and Y6.

Review this resourceHi Claudia. Thank you for getting in touch regarding answers for the Archimedes’s mobiles resource. As this task has so many (infinite!) answers we decided not to include an answer sheet with this resource. Hopefully the instructions at the top of the resource provide a pointer for sample answers. For example, the figures for the first mobile could be 8 + 4 = 2 + 10 but could also be 523 + 309 = 2 + 830. Many thanks, George
