Scramble

Scramble is based on the classic game Countdown

Simply try to make the longest word in the time limit. It's a fast and furious Scramble to get the word. Have fun!

More info and some suggestions

Scramble - try to make the longest word possible

> Launch Scramble

  • First choose between Upper Case or Lower Case and set the time limit. Then press Play.
  • As in the original game, appoint an MC to stand by the board. This person responds to instructions from the current team or player ‘Vowel, Consonant, Vowel’ etc. On each command, the MC drags the appropriate tile onto the play rack.
  • The class can work on paper – or use the screen to arrange the tiles into words.
  • Get Flash PlayerFor a more prolonged activity you could institute a scoring system based on the number of letters in the word.
  • Check disputed words in a dictionary.

Anagram

Find the hidden word in the fastest time!

Race against time to find the computer's hidden word and solve the anagram.

More info and some suggestions

Anagram - find the hidden word

> Launch Anagram

  • To play Anagram, first choose between Upper Case or Lower Case, select the length of your word and the time limit. Then press Play.
  • When you are ready to start, click ‘Start’; you will see the letters and the timer will begin automatically, accompanied by a terrifying ticking noise (if the speakers are switched on).
  • The class can work on paper - or use the screen to arrange the tiles to find the word. If the class think they’ve found the word they press ‘Solve’. If a legitimate (but incorrect) word is found, the computer will respond with a message saying that the word is not the one it has concealed.
  • If you try Anagram you will discover it’s highly addictive. You’ll find yourself competing with the clock.
  • A more prolonged activity involves scoring games by the number of seconds left after each round – the quicker a word is solved the more points are scored.
  • Individuals can play this variation, or you can organise the class into two teams that alternate.
  • Get Flash PlayerIn future we will be creating Anagram games using specific lists of words – if you know of one that you’d like us to use, please do get in touch!
