Money problems – using algebra
Use this challenging activity to investigate a money problem using algebra and plot the results on a graph. The resource guides children through each step of the investigation.
N.B. Once the formula n + 8 = 3n has been discussed, teachers may want to ask children to subtract n from each side, enabling children to see what the table and graph should show: that the totals are equal when n = 4.
Answers are included. Suitable for upper KS2, lower KS3 or for transition activities.
